It certainly has been a while since I've posted any new pictures. It's been a cold and busy winter season and I've finally been able to get back out and take some more pictures and have a few sets to share. But before anything else I have some exciting news! On February 11th a new "Bernard" was adopted. After many years of wanting to raise a puppy I was able to add a 8week old, tiny 4.2lbs bichon frise/toy poodle to our family. Even though I had other names picked out for her, the one that stuck (and wasn't on my list at all) was "Eko" (said just like "Echo").
Eko's mother is a 16lbs bichon frise and her father is a 8lbs toy poodle (with black and tan/phantom markings), so her breeder estimated she would be around 12/13lbs full grown as Eko was also the runt of her litter. I'm so excited to watch her grow up and watch her personality and markings develop more and also see how big she will get.
I could write an entire novel about Eko, but what I will end with is how her name came about. My mother and I were in the kitchen and all of a sudden she said "What do you think about Echo?" I loved it instantly. My mother said she was trying to think of things that reminded her of the dark (because Eko is black) and she thought of a story she tells her students about a little bear wanting to make friends with the moon. He goes on top of a hill and yells to the moon and asks when the moon's birthday is. He tells the moon "tomorrow is my birthday", and echoed back is "tomorrow is my birthday". Thinking how cute the story was and that it took place at night, the word "Echo" popped into her mind. I changed the spelling to three letters to be similar to my other dog, Rio. Also, I remember a character in Lost named "Mr. Eko", so that spelling stuck.
So without further ado I present you with my little Eko.
